3 Acre Holler
Appalachian inspired rural music for everyone
Sunday, July 24th 4-6 PM in the Amphitheater
3 Acre Holler was founded by Cori Wood (Occidental’s Water Meter Reader!) and singer/multi-instrumentalist Layne Bowen. Based in Sonoma County, California, 3 Acre Holler derives it’s name from Cori’s family property near Forestville. Joining Cori and Layne are Paul Shelasky on fiddle and mandolin, Cary Black on bass and Michael Capella on dobro.
3 Acre Holler offers Appalachian inspired material with a penchant for songs with darker themes. Unrequited love, moonshine, tragedy and death are frequent visitors to their song list. In addition to their own songs, 3 Acre Holler give us their take on songs by contemporary writers such as Gillian Welch, Martha Scanlon, The O’Kanes, Casey Chambers and guys named Hank. They do like to sing a few happy songs about love, birds and butterflies as well, so don’t worry about leaving one of their gigs in a mopey mood. Instead, you will likely leave with respect for the talent and material they present and possibly with a copy of their new cd in your hand!
Tickets to this event are $20 GA, $15 for OCA members. This is an outdoor event, bring your own seat cushion or low back chair. Please email us to reserve ground level seating if you are disabled. Fine refreshments for sale, art gallery open during intermission.
