This class is offered over six consecutive Thursday afternoons, 2 to 4pm, starting March 2, 2023, culminating in an optional Talent Show April 15, 2023.
Cost: OCA members pay $25 per session drop-in or $125 for all six sessions. Non-members pay $30 per session. All tuition benefits OCA. You can pay via PayPal or by check.
For all amateur musicians, singers, songwriters, comedians, storytellers, monologists who want to share their art more professionally onstage. We will gather in the OCA auditorium, with a full sound and lighting system, and rehearse together every aspect of stage performance:
Overcoming stage fright
Mastering the sound system
Eye contact and audience rapport
Choosing material
Simplifying your act
Timing for maximum effect
How to prepare and rehearse
This will be largely a peer-run class, moderated by Patrick Fanning. For ease of setup and keeping things moving, solo and duo acts are welcome, but no bands or dramatic pieces requiring many performers or complex setup.
This class will provide the kind of supportive but objective feedback that you never get from friends or family or at events like open mics and talent shows. The next talent show at OCA is scheduled for April 15, 2023, so this class is the perfect preparation for that event.
