This class will be offered for nine consecutive Thursdays from 2-4 PM, culminating in an optional Talent Show on April 9th. Class starts Feb. 3, 2022.
For all amateur musicians, singers, songwriters, comedians, storytellers who want to share their art more professionally onstage. We will gather in the OCA auditorium, with a full sound and lighting system, and rehearse together every aspect of stage performance:
Overcoming stage fright
Mastering the sound system
Eye contact and audience rapport
Choosing material
Simplifying your act
Timing for maximum effect
How to prepare and rehearse
Tuning and other stage business
This will be largely a peer-run class, moderated by Patrick Fanning, with occasional guest lecturers. For ease of setup and keeping things moving, solo and duo acts are welcome, but no bands or dramatic pieces requiring more than two performers.
This class will provide the kind of supportive but objective feedback that you never get from friends or family or at events like open mics and talent shows. The next talent show at OCA is scheduled for April 9, 2022, so this class is the perfect preparation for that event.
Cost: OCA members pay $25 per session drop-in or $160 for all eight sessions. Non-members pay $30 per session.
