Expressive, dynamic, sensational: the Aris Quartett has been at home on the international stages for over a decade. With its unmistakable tonal language, it has long been one of the top echelons of chamber music. The musicians’ performance venues include halls such as London’s Wigmore Hall, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Philharmonie de Paris or the Konzerthaus Wien. The Aris Quartett is often a sought-after partner for soloists, including Christiane Karg, Daniel Müller-Schott, Eckart Runge, Kit Armstrong, William Youn and Nils Mönkemeyer.
The ensemble also devotes itself to cross-genre projects, such as with the jazz pianist Omer Klein. From the very beginning, the musicians also paid special attention to contemporary music. Composers such as Gerald Resch, Misato Mochizuki and Pierre-Dominique Ponnelle entrust the quartet with the world premieres of their works.
Founded in Frankfurt am Main in 2009, the Aris Quartett, whose most important mentors include Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), still plays with the same line-up today. The success of the ensemble is no coincidence: the Aris Quartett quickly achieved their international breakthrough with numerous first prizes at renowned competitions. The musicians have also been recognized as “ECHO Rising Stars” by the European Concert Hall Organisation, are among the BBC’s “New Generation Artists” and won five prizes at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich.
