In Becoming a Farang, Michael invites the reader to join him on a three-month stay in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. Told with humor, personal history, introspection and commentary, Michael uses his experiences in Thailand to explore cultural differences, aesthetics, sexuality, ageing, spirituality, and the environment.

This is Michael’s 7th book. Although he has always enjoyed writing, it wasn’t until he was in his 60’s that he began to share his work. In addition to short stories, creative nonfiction and memoirs, Michael has written plays and performance pieces. He is an active member of the Rotary Club Sebastopol Sunrise and the Sebastopol Area Time Bank. He and his partner, Jesada, live in Sebastopol.
